Brocolli is a branched vegetable with green flower buds commonly with a hint of bitterness. It is one of the most nutritious vegetables that contains Vitamins C, A and E, Calcium, Iron etc.

Baked Broccoli Cheese Balls

Ingredients :  

  1. Cheddar cheese
  2. Breadcrumbs
  3. Garlic
  4. Onion
  5. Eggs
  6. Parsley
  7. Olive oil
  8. Salt
  9. Black pepper

Storage Method:

We recommend to consume the broccoli as soon as possible as it will not keep long.

To store, mist the unwashed heads and wrap loosely in damp paper towels before refrigerating. Use within 2 to 3 days. Do not store broccoli in a plastic bag or sealed container as it requires air circulation.

DO NOT wash the broccoli before storing in the refrigerator. This excess moisture encourages mould growth.

1. What’s the difference between Broccoli and Cauliflower?

Besides the colour, the main difference is the taste. Broccoli are usually more bitter in flavour while Cauliflower tasting mildly sweet.

2. Is it safe to eat raw broccoli?

Broccoli is usually served cooked but it can be enjoyed raw too. To enjoy raw broccoli, clean the broccoli under cold running water and rub clean dirty spots. After that, gently pat it with a paper towel until it’s fully dry. Cut the broccoli florets from the main stem into small pieces and it can be enjoyed as it is. Broccoli florets and stems are both safe to eat. Thinly cut stems will be easier to chew.

3. Broccoli Allergy

Some people are allergic to broccoli, including salicylates allergy and pollen food syndrome. Salicylates is a natural chemical that can be found in broccoli. Broccoli also contains proteins that are similar to pollen which some people allergic to. The only way to prevent broccoli allergy is to avoid eating them.

4. My Broccoli is turning yellow. Can I still eat it ?

Broccoli that is turning yellow does not mean rotting usually, it’s just the broccoli is wilting due to maturity. Broccoli that turned yellow is typically safe to eat but you probably will not want to eat too much of it after taking one bite as it has become very bitter.
