Why is it called Kiwi?

Kiwi had a Chinese name originally which is ‘yang tao’, but then changed to ‘Chinese Gooseberries’ due to its sweet and sour flavour and green colour. It got its current name in 1959, after New Zealand’s national bird which has the same name, they are both small, brown, and fuzzy.

Can I eat the skin of Kiwi?

The skin is edible but some people dislike its fuzzy texture, and it may cause mouth irritation. It is full of nutrients which may up the fiber by 50 percent, for example. To enjoy unpeeled kiwi, simply cut into slices or bite into like how you enjoy an apple.

What are the benefits of eating Kiwi?

Kiwis are great for improving digestive health as it is high in dietary fibre. Kiwi is also rich in vitamin C which helps to stimulate our body’s immune reponse.
